NYSNA NURSES ENDORSE JUSTIN BRANNAN FOR NEW YORK CITY COMPTROLLER

New York, N.Y. -- On Wed. April 16, New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) nurses proudly endorsed Justin Brannan for New York City Comptroller. Council member Justin Brannan has been one of NYSNA’s strongest allies in New York City and has supported nurses during major battles. As Finance Chair of the City Council, he supported NYSNA Health+Hospitals members’ historic campaign for pay parity, an issue of health and racial equity for New York City, has consistently advocated for safe staffing for our communities, and has tirelessly fought for dignity and respect for our nurses. Council member Brannan has continually stood in solidarity with workers across the city and holds employers across all industries in New York accountable.

NYSNA President Nancy Hagans, RN, BSN, CCRN, said, “NYSNA nurses are proud and excited to support Justin Brannan in his election for city comptroller. In the face of federal cuts to essential health services and attacks on organized labor, we need trusted advocates who will fight for our communities and ensure this city defends healthcare for all. Brannan has consistently supported nurses, stood against some of the most aggressive budget cuts, expanded essential programs, and fought against corruption. We’re excited by his vision for this city and know we can count on him to be a voice for nurses and safe patient care.”

Dr. Judith Cutchin, DNP, RN, NYSNA First Vice President and a nurse at NYC Health+Hospitals/Woodhull in Brooklyn, said, “Justin Brannan has a strong track record of fighting for nurses throughout this City. As Finance Chair, Justin stood with NYSNA as we fought for more good nursing jobs and safe staffing in our Health+Hospitals system. When nurses were fighting big employers and corporate interests, Justin Brannan had our backs. Brannan stood with us when we fought for pay equity and we know he will continue to fight for the needs of our communities.”

NYSNA also endorsed candidates for several other city offices.  New York City’s primary elections are scheduled to take place on June 24, 2025, and the general election will be held on November 4, 2025.

Tell Congress: No Cuts to Medicaid!

Take Action
Medicaid saves lives. Almost half of all children in New York rely on Medicaid, and many hospitals throughout the state receive the majority of their revenue from Medicaid. If we don’t succeed in stopping the cuts, our patients will lose access to healthcare and entire hospitals could close.
